Gabriele Basilico

"the citites that interest me are those which are very clearly going through a process of urban transformation. i am interested in the marks of individual identity to be foudn in the urban fabric; the ways in which you can examine they body of the city in a very precise way.....
the topgraphical diverseity of the urban fabric and its disconnection from the surrounding landscape is what really informs my work.
all types of photographs or architecture and cities have, inevitably influenced my work."
(page 208 - Susan Bright's Art Photography Now, Book)

Basilico has displayed a lifelong fascination with the city.
His images present this idea of the city being a dense environment.
the way his photographs are composed are almost like collages of the cityscapes and skylines, dominated by strong constructions and solid shape. This in conjunction with his technical skills, means contrast and rich tones are present in the industrial images.
