Flags, Jesus murals, imprisonment: All feature in Bergerson's work - i love his approach and the way he presents these themes in this work.

The actual way in which he builds his photographs into clever, quite opinionated statements is really interesting and to me speaks volumes of his own thoughts and feeling towards America.

He is a sign lover, often photographing the most entertaining ones he stumbles upon. I make every effort to read every sign I come across for photographic possibilities, especially handwritten signs, like Keith Arnett's sticky notes, they are often a key element in telling tales about the social space in which the note lies.
In Bergerson's work I see a fellow sign lover. I would imagine he too cannot walk by any sign without reading it. It is that element of being nosey - i think everybody has that?
