Tweedle Hill Road

Tonight i decided to take a little walk up and back down my street, photographing the area at night under the tungsten glow of the street lights.
I was inspired to do this by Richard Billingham's series - The Black Country.
I really liked how by capturing the orange glow of the street lights, in turn the atmosphere is captured too.
Ironically i live in a place named Blackley, which has similarities to the name of the location where Billingham shot his photos (The Black Country)
I think, as simple as it may be, the images are really effective, i pursposely set my white balance incorrectly and used a longer exposure to capture the lights.
When viewing the images it is easy to place yourself in the scene, and to a certain extent the loaction doesn't feel like a desirable place to be.
This is a technique i definitely plan to play with more - i think next time i would use a tripod and see how the mood is effected when the images are sharper. I think it would add to the stillness and enhance the eeriness of the images.
